A facebook User posted this pics of her on her 4th Birthday

"Child abandonment is the practice of relinquishing interests and claims over one's offspring in an extralegal way with the intent of never again resuming or reasserting them. Causes include many social and cultural factors as well asmental illness. An abandoned child is called a foundling (as opposed to arunaway or an orphan). Baby dumpingrefers to parents abandoning or discarding a child younger than 12 months in a public or private place with the intent of disposing of them. It is also known as rehoming in cases of failed adoptions. -----According to wikepedia

Causes

Poverty is often a root cause of child abandonment. People in cultures with poor social welfare systems who are not financially capable of taking care of a child are more likely to abandon them. Political conditions, such as difficulty in adoption proceedings, may also contribute to child abandonment, as can the lack of institutions, such as orphanages, to take in children whom their parents cannot support.

Another common reason for baby dumping is teenage pregnancies. Pregnant teenagers experience problems during and after childbirth due to social and psychological distress. Regardless of age, parents may abandon a child because they are unprepared to raise them.

Other reasons include unpreferred gender, appearance, or other characteristics of the child as well as mental or physical handicaps of the child.

Education, family planning, government support, and post-natal services and support for motherhood are available tools for reducing this."

Infanticide and baby-dumping are crimes, but these acts are also cries for help. New mothers – especially young mothers – may feel overwhelmed by the idea of parenthood.

They may have difficulty coping with the drastic physical and emotional changes they are experiencing. They may be suffering from the depression sometimes brought on by the hormonal changes associated with giving birth. They may be convinced that they will be unable to provide for the child, and they may feel that there is no one they can turn to for help. They may fear the shame of having given birth outside of marriage, or they may fear that they will be unable to continue their studies.

None of these feelings can excuse the abandonment or murder of a child. But they show that communities can take steps to prevent infanticide and baby-
dumping by giving mothers support and reassurance. ----Excerpts from Dianne Hubbard's research on Baby-dumping and Infanticide for Gender Research &Advocacy Project of the Legal Assistance Center

The most important support a teenager need is the support of family memebers ,Family play the most important role in shaping the future of a child and continued guidance will help a tenager overcome peer pressure. In a case of teenage pregnancy family members should learn to suport young persons ,., to save them from opting for suicide ,abortion and child abandonement as  better options. In countries like India and other parts of Asia incidents of honor killing has been recorded in such situattion where the men in the family would kill a woman for bringing shame to their family .
