LGD Entertainment present "Ajegunle To The World" Concert . This mega jam is taking place today at Landmark event centre,water corporation drive,Oniru ,Lagos. The event will feature musicians , actors ,sportstars and entrepreneurs born and raised in Ajegunle.
Ajegunle (meanin in Yoruba:Land of Wealth)popularly known as AJ city,has in many area continouslys delivered according to the meaning of its name.
A defacto capital of Lagos state, has played a major role in raising men and women who has founded ,shaped and become stake holders in Entertainment industry of the Nation, in Sports, Politics , Industries , to mention a few.
Ajegunle is the only community in Nigeria with a good ethnic blend , people from every Nigerian tribe ,and different parts of Africa leave in peace and Unity in Ajegunle.Though haunted in the past with tales of infamy , people raised in this great city see themselves as "Champions" if u can make it here ,u can make it anywhere in the world.
Contradicting the rumor that the great AJ city was brought to public attention by daddy Showkey , the legendary singer Fela Anikulapo Kuti mentioned AJ city in one of his songs where he said in "make i talk am for Ajegunle English" In the early 70's during the rush of village dwellers into Lagos for greener pastures
Ajegunle provided home for thousand of Nigerian who came to Lagos without proper arrangement for shelter, more than eighty percent of Lagosians who migrated from other Nigerian states stated their journey from this great city. Its people are notable for their hospitality ,kindness and strongwill.
Props has to be given to music legend Daddy Showkey for being consistent in promoting the Ghetto city, before Daddy Showkey, the successful music career of artist like Ras Kimono, Majeck Fashek and others can be traced to Ajegunle, there was also Felix and Mozez, then Daddy Showkey was a member of a HipHop group called Pretty Busy Boys, which was also made up of artists like Cash Man Davies and Daddy Fresh, Daddy Fresh was the First person to go Solo in the group.We also need to mention good musical artist like Mighty Mouse(CEO of JAHOWA) and Remmy.
It is also important to commend artists like Haji Bright and Super White, Junglist(Chi junglist and Oritse Femi)Marvelous Benji, Allen B,Flekta man and so many that couldnt be mentioned to keep this article brief for the reader to enjoy but we cannot forget a DJ like Uncle P ,who encouraged most of the artist mentioned above to hold fast to music at a period in the Nigerian history when the Music Industry was considered an Industry for lowlifes ,especially from Ajegunle, Now it has become a billion Naira industry and people of all background are reaping its benefits....
People in Ajegunle are notable for their love and craze for football and success in In Sport . The likes of Ifeanyi Udeze, Emmanuel Amunike, Samson Siasia, Taribo West , Daniel Amokachi built their careers through street footbal and fields like the Navy baracks field in Boundary , Marakana field in Tolu and St Mary in Orgie.
Ajegunle has been consistent in producing dance steps and moves for decades even though proper credit has not been given to these dancers.
